The Brazil Africa Forum reaches in its 7th edition as one of the main events for strengthening relations between Brazil and the African continent. During intense two days, about 300 representatives from governments, the private sector, academia and potential investors will exchange experiences, discuss valuables opportunities and promote knowledge. In this edition, the BAF will have as main theme “Food security: path to economic growth”. Providing access to the necessary food to guarantee an active life for people is at the basis for development, a social and economic one. Unfortunately, according to the United Nations world hunger seems to be on the rise again after a prolonged decline. Conflicts, droughts, and disasters linked to climate change are among the main factors that cause this reversal in progress. Therefore, it is urgent to bring together governments, organizations and the private sector to develop effective plans that are economically viable, socially fair and ecologically correct. Under this context, the Brazilian expertize in agriculture and rural technology development are a positive approach that should be highlighted and BAF represents a platform to boost dialogues between key players to make it possible a world where zero hunger will actually thrive (SDG 2). As food security has a multi-dimensional essence, the main theme will be discussed under the most varied perspectives such as technology, trade and investment, mechanization, sanitation and education through plenary sessions and side events. The plenary sessions will provide a deepening dialogue between panelists and moderator chosen with strong rigor – promoting a debate with the capacity to transform ideas and arguments in action. As for the side events, partner institutions will hold sessions to share good experiences, good practices and contributions to planning strategic moves for the future to come.
